Resources for Bash/Python scripting?
« on: October 18, 2019, 04:24:31 pm »
Hi all,

Just a general ask really but does anyone have some good Bash or Python resources they can recommend?

Keen to dive into the terminal and I understand Python is great for automation scripts as well?

Cheers  :)

Hi jpandd,

Here is a nice online guide (I think you can also find a pdf version somewhere too): Advanced Bash-Scripting Guide. If you are just getting started then maybe the Bash Guide for Beginners is what you are looking for (also available as a pdf download). Finally there is IBM's Bash scripting for beginning system administrators (also available as a pdf download).  ;)

There are, I'm sure, many other resources for bash scripting out there for free, but those are some of the ones I have found that can also be downloaded.

The same goes for python programming. Just enter the search terms at Duck Duck Go ... and go !!  8)
