Arduino serial port problem
« on: September 13, 2019, 10:18:25 pm »
My son's Arduino won't connect on peppermint.  It is my understanding that it is a common Linux problem that can be fixed, but I can't understand how. Upon opening the Arduino IDE reads "java.lang.NullPointerException thrown while loading gnu.io.RXTXCommDriver"

what do i do? please use small words :)
thanks in advance.

Hi mick, I had that problem and solved it by installing java 8, let me try and find that information for you but you can do a duckduckgo search for java 8 and download the deb file.
What was I thinking?
