Previous font selector and non-hiding scrollbars
« on: September 13, 2019, 11:06:47 am »
Hello everyone. I have tried searching the forum, to no avail, I am an otherwise happy Peppermint user, have been since its first versions, but recently I ran into this problem that I don't know how to fix, namely
1)  I want my old font selection dialog back - you all know how it used to look like, it's very, very cumbersome to find fonts in the new font selection dialog
2) I want to completely remove the self-hiding scrollbars in the entire system, if there's a scrollbar,  I want to see it permanently, not just when I move the mouse over the area where it presumably stands.

I would appreciate if anyone can help me out here, I am advanced user and can find my way around the system easily, but these two issues bug me.

Thank you

Not sure what you mean by (1), we've not changed where fonts are set :-\ .. if you run:
Code: [Select]
lxappearance
is the font selection not at the bottom (on the widget tab) ? .. or have you broke this somehow ?

as for overlay scrollbars...

Run:
Code: [Select]
gksudo xed /etc/environment
when the file opens, add a NEW LINE at the bottom that reads
Code: [Select]
GTK_OVERLAY_SCROLLING=0
SAVE the file and exit the text editor.

Log off/on.

Thank you very much for your reply.
The widget for font selection that appears from lxappearance, is not the issue

That one works perfectly, and I'd like to keep all the other places in the system where font selections appear, to be just like this one.

The problem is the "new" font selection dialog, in xed or other apps.
I'm not sure if the screenshot I try to attach will be attached or not,
in case it will not, this is what I mean:
http://prnt.sc/p66669

I've added the environment var for scrollbars, I will check on the next login .

Again, thank you for your support.

The font selector in applications comes as part of the current version of Gtk (it's a stock gtk dialog) .. so not much we can do about it I'm afraid.
