The fastest automated suspend option in Peppermint9 is 15 minutes. The screen can be suspended in seconds, but not the entire pc/laptop. Battery power matters when working on a laptop and many small periods of suspend can easily save a half an hour worth of battery power.

In LinuxMint I could use dconf-editor to tweak the standard power settings. Is this possible in Peppermint9 as well? Or is there another program with which I can change the suspend time settings in Peppermint9 to a lot faster time periods?

If I'm understanding you correctly, maybe try adjusting these values:-
Code: [Select]
<property name="inactivity-on-battery" type="uint" value="15"/>
<property name="inactivity-on-ac" type="uint" value="15"/>
in
Code: [Select]
xed ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-power-manager.xml
Though I'm not sure this will work because if you set it to "Never" in the xfce4-power-manager, that file just reflects "14" (and not "0" as I'd have expected)

Thanks for that tweak suggestion. I will try and experiment with that.
