Wifi Issues Using Toshiba Satellite C55t-A5222 (SOLVED)
« on: August 05, 2019, 12:40:42 pm »
Hello all,

I installed Peppermint 9 on my sister laptop long ago and WiFi was working. Yesterday she wanted me get Minecraft installed on her laptop so I notice she had some updates that needs to be done and I ran the update. When I went to reboot the WiFi card isn't getting detected so I figure it might be a kernel issues so I reboot the laptop and hold down shift and went back to the kernel it was on before, still no WiFi was getting detected.

Then I decided download Peppermint 10 and just reinstall everything and reset everything up for her, I burn Peppermint 10 on a USB and boot to the live and it wasn't detecting WiFi either, so I thought it was a Peppermint issues so I tried MX and Linux Mint and they have the same issues so I decided to keep Peppermint 9 on her laptop since it still supported but if I have to install Peppermint 10 I won't mind resetting everything up for her.

I don't know if the kernel lost support for that WiFi card because it was working when Peppermint 9 was new but stop working when I did an update. I tried manually add WiFi but it wouldn't look for any WiFi like it was before.

Wireless is hardblocked .. this is usually the result of a hardware switch (or key combo) being set to disabled .. are you SURE you haven't accidentally turned off wireless with a physical switch (or key combo) ?

Run:
Code: [Select]
sudo rfkill unblock all
now post the output from:
Code: [Select]
rfkill list

I guess I don't don't remember doing that but it works now

Here is the output if you still need it
Code: [Select]
@Satellite ~ $ rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no

Thanks Mark
