P10 5.0 kernel and dual monitor support failed. [RE-SOLVED]
« on: August 04, 2019, 05:11:13 pm »
 ???

Sadly, I can't get my dual monitors to display anything other than a default duplicate display via Display via peppermint Control panel, nor in ARandR

 >:(

have flipped back to the prior 4.18.0-25-generic kernel for now...

Well I wasn't expecting that from the intel/modesetting driver :-\

I'll see if I have an affected intel machine too and get back to you.

How exactly were you setting up the dual monitors ? .. "Display" app, or "ARandR" ?

and what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
xrandr
(preferably from both the 4.18 and 5.0 kernels)

I usually right click on desktop to launch Peppermint Settings Panel, select Hardware then Display. The only options there: default / 1920x1080 / 77.0 Hz...

I'll be right back with the settings from 4.18 kernel...
  :-\

Code: [Select]
spence@antec ~ $ xrandr
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default

I've just noticed the driver changes from 'modesetting' in 4.18 to 'fbdev' in 5.0

I need to do some homework about forcing the modesetting driver.

Thanks Zeb.

BTW, the 430 drivers are now in the default repos, so should no longer require adding the PPA :)
