Cursor Randomly Jumps When Using Synaptics Touchpad (SOLVED)
« on: August 02, 2019, 12:01:17 pm »
The title says it all.

Whenever I enable touchpad, writing becomes a chore, as all of a sudden, the cursor will jump a couple of lines up (or something). It may not sound so bad, but it's really, really annoying and it breaks the flow of your work frequently.

I have searched the internet for solution, but I haven't found anything useful.

Open to try anything  :'(

It's all to do with vibration, I had the same problem what Laptop are you using? I had same on my Lenovo yoga 500, but that comes with the option to switch off Touchpad and use a proper mouse. I also managed to switch off Touchpad in my Elitebook with a little app called Touchpad Indicator link below on how to install it and use it. I set mine up to be off all the time on start up.

http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2018/04/install-touchpad-indicator-ubuntu-18-04-lts/

I hope this helps?

This should work in Peppermint 8 too so ignore the 18.04 part

Thank you.

I know it won't be an issue once I disable it. The thing is, I wanna use it  :D

give us a shout if you have any questions.

Sorry about starting another thread on this. This solution works perfectly fine for me.

I set it to 0.3 second. There is no lag and I can use the touchpad right after hitting the last stroke -- without the cursor driving me insane  >:(

Thank you.   :)

I've noticed it still jumps on me a little from time to time, but it's not nearly as frequent or painful as it used to be.
