Hello Folks,

Just introducing myself. Just call me Dave.

Moving from Linux Mint 17.3  to Peppermint 10. Liking what I see so far.

I have been reading a fair bit of the posts and have found many good useful tips. Thank you members for your postings.

Hopefully I'll be able to add to the community.

I'll date myself here and say my first computer was a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A - when they were new!

Take Care and Enjoy

Welcome Dave!

Peppermint can be whatever you need it to be, cloud based with Ice or install your apps locally.

Without badmouthing Mint, can I ask what made you consider Peppermint?

Sent using my Huawei Android phone, which I will continue to use even if certain countries have banned them.

Running Peppermint 8- 64 bit on my Lenovo i3 laptop.

Welcome aboard Dave... I'm pretty sure my Dad had one of those TI-99's for the rural community college basic computer classes he was teaching that year.

Welcome aboard Dave... I'm pretty sure my Dad had one of those TI-99's for the rural community college basic computer classes he was teaching that year.

Well, that makes me feel old...  ;D

My first store-bought PC, if you will, was a TI-99/4A. I bought the whole enchilada - console - expansion box - floppy drive - you name it. I had over $2000 USD invested in it, when TI decided to drop out of the market.

Users went into a 'shark eating frenzy', when they heard the announcement and started emptying the shelves of anything that had to do with the TI-99/4A. Luckily, I was sitting on a lot of rare and expensive accessories - all in mint condition, with the original boxes, instruction manuals, and so forth.

Luckily, I ended up getting all my money back, by putting an ad in the newspaper (pre-Internet). Everything was sold in a few days, before everyone came to their senses.

I invested the money in a Tandy/Radio Shack TRS-80 model III, and started a multi-line dial-up BBS (ThunderBoard BBS) - with a brace of the latest and greatest Hayes 300 baud modems. The TRS-80 model III was later stolen in a burglary, and never recovered, but the modems are still sitting in my closet. LoL

Anyway, thanks, for the walk down Memory Lane...
