Xfce-Panel theming problem (SOLVED)
« on: July 18, 2019, 08:27:10 am »
Hello, I Just switched the dark Xfce-Panel to a lighter theme, but some buttons (Whisker Menue Button, Volume and Keyboard Button) remain dark. How can I Switch the colour of these buttons also, so that eyerything looks equal?

Switch from the Pepirus-Dark Icon theme, to the Pepirus-Light one (or some other icon theme designed to work with a light background).

In:-

Menu > Settings > Customise Look and Feel > Icon Theme (tab)

You may need to log off/on before all icons change .. or at least restart the panel with:
Code: [Select]
xfce4-panel -r

You may also need to choose a light coloured/matching Gtk theme.
(in fact his is probably the issue you're having)

No, Xfce-Panel restart doesn't solve the problem, I made a Screenshot but I don't know how to add it here. Ist there a theme script anywhere where I can change the desired button color? As I said, theme is installed in the way you explained, thanks for your quick answer.

So, okay, here comes the Screenshot. As you See in the left Panelside one Button/area/Icon remains dark (Whisker-menue), also on the right side beneath the time. Theme is Telinkrin.

The best way to achieve what you want would be to create a panel-backgound image in the colour(s) you want .. you can use the one at:-
/usr/share/peppermint/images/peppermix-panel-background.png
as a template.

Save it somewhere.

Then point the panel preferences at it .. as in:-

Taking the peppermint.png leads to a complete dark panel, but you are on the right way, switching in the panel settings to the desired colour solved the problem. Hopefully in the way with peppermint 10.

Yeah I meant for you to CREATE a light background image file using peppermix-panel-background.png as a template .. not to use it 'as is'.

I've been following this thread, but keeping my 'mouth' shut - but, you finally said it :))
