Mozilla has been nominated for the "Internet Willen of the Year" award. The initiators were representatives of the UK Internet Provider Trade Association, and the company had plans to add Firefox support to the DNS protocol on HTTPS (DoH).

Not to worry.

DoH will be coming to a browser near you, regardless of which one you use.

As Mozilla's apologia (above) suggests, Everyone will hop on the bandwagon, soon  ;)

and here is their response

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/07/06/mozilla_ukisp_vallain/

I don't know what the big deal is. DoH simply closes the 'first mile' loophole, if you will.

I've been using DNS-over-TLS for quite awhile: https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php?topic=7923.0

There wasn't any uproar about DoT encyption :-\

We all know that ISPs sell one's internet activity data to marketers, and so forth. When one tunnels into DoH servers, it cuts ISPs out of the loop. ISPs don't know where you're going on the web, and which pages you're viewing. Thus, they'll lose a significant source of income, not being able to spy on you. So, that's probably what it's all about.

Anytime I see someone using a 'Defend-The-Children' argument, it makes me  suspicious.

We'll see how it all pans out...

Exactly, the whole thing is sick!
How do people swallow all this non-sense, somehow still surprises me.

So their argument is....

We want you to have no privacy, so we can protect you by arresting/fining people after they've invaded your privacy :-\

Smart thinking that .. do they really think we're that stupid ? .. I don't understand why they even bother trying to justify it, just be straight and say "this is NOT about privacy, we don't give a **** about your privacy, it's about surveillance".

They're happy to chuck your privacy/security under the bus to make their life easier .. problem is it doesn't work, the goal is to satisfy their paranoia by being able to surveil at will, but all it does is feed their paranoia.
