f*&k firefox
« on: July 28, 2019, 04:03:43 pm »
I am so freaking tired of firefox deciding what I can and cannot do and where I can go on the www ...

but wait... it won't go because IT REQUIRES a secure connection? I thought that was a good thing?

It's not just firefox though, my phone is regularly telling me a site is "known to be a source of fake news" Excuse me? I'll decide on my own thanks. The default Samsung browser and the DDG browser denied me access to a few sites yesterday.

Okay I'm confused .. since when did we have the Samsung browser as the default ? :-\

BTW, I'm not sure you should be complaining in that instance .. the site was telling Firefox that a secure connection was a requirement, but Firefox was unable to get one for whatever reason.

In fact:-
events.attendthisevent.com
should forward to an SSL site (for me https://instantteleseminar.com/connect/) .. at a guess, the server was forwarding you to a non SSL site, so Firefox was doing you a favour.

This wasn't Firefox throwing you the curveball, it was the website/webserver/DNS/or possibly some kinda browser redirect malware.

I have been a lightning rod for suffering all week long. The website in question did have an https connection, chromium took me there with no issue. Yet I suppose something along the link highway mighta been problematic. What infuriated me most was an associated warning (that also appeared in my samsung phone's default browser) warning me about: the website you are trying to reach has been flagged & listed as suspicious and likely to broadcast fake news

Not happening to me on either (both Firefox in Peppermint and Firefox Preview on Android) with your link.

BTW, if you haven't tried Firefox Preview on Android yet .. give it a whirl, it's MUCH better than stock Firefox.

So I can only assume that for some reason you were being redirected to a non-SSL website, yet the original page told Fx to expect a secure socket .. so Fx was just doing its job of protecting you in highly suspicious circumstances.

I gave and giving Fx Preview a try, but missing reader mode and I don't care about cookies addon. I hate those popups all the time. For now I prefer Firefox on Android.

Edit: I'm a chab. Readermode is available in Fx Preview. Swipe up on the tabbar and option comes up.
