does not see my HP printer
« on: June 28, 2019, 11:32:51 am »
Dear all,
Could not print out a document from my HP3525. The HP toolbox showed "no connection". Tried to solve the problem by removing the printer and reinstalling it again. The machine does not see it.  What should I do?

Is this the HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3525 E-all-in-one ? .. or one of the Colour LaserJet 3525's ?

How is it connected ? (ethernet / wireless / USB cable)

and what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
dpkg -l | grep hplip

It's an all in one scanner / printer ink-jet appliance, wireless connected

Just as a temporary experiment does HP Toolbox find the printer if it's connected via USB .. just trying to figure out if this is purely a networking issue, or something more fundamental.

Have you tried adding the printer via the CUPS web interface
http://localhost:631
?

Do this in Firefox not Chrome/Chromium

Yes, it does not see / detect any available printers...

I went to the HP Linux Imaging and Printing  and downloaded the latest HPLIP for my distro which I identified as Ubuntu from the drop list. Then I tried to follow the instructions for installation, but at some point the system demanded the root password, which I have no clue. Tried to use my user's , didn't work.

You already have a version of HPLIP that supports that printer.

How did you connect your printer to your router ? WPS ?

I suspect it is the new WiFi router. I have changed my location, internet provider and wifi router.  This might be it. Yes, the connection was through WPS.  Tried to press and hold the WPS button on the back of the router - has not worked, perhaps I have not held long enough? In any event, this is not a Peppermint OS problem. Thank you for help!
