The problem must be about putting the devices in pairing mode then .. bluetooth is obviously working.

So it seems to be a compatibility issue, I can live with that.

I doubt if it's a compatibility issue, it's just that you need to figure out how to put the device into pairing mode .. then whilst it's in pairing mode (it'll probably only stay in pairing mode for 2 mins) search for it from within Peppermint.

I have really tried every combination of the keys on my JBL Flip 2, with no luck. But more important; both speakers connect without any problem with my phone, my windows laptop and even on my HP Stream with Peppermint 10 installed! Is there a way to just update the bluetooth manager because of my RAM problems with 10 as posted in ¨RAM fills up¨?

It might be a kernel issue, because other than having a later kernel all the bluetooth stuff is the same between PM9 and PM10 .. but if we update your kernel, the memory problem might return.

Please, I want to try... I am not afraid of a (re-) install. Have installed Peppermint 9 and 10, Lubuntu, Fedora, Manjaro, Mint etc.

Run:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-18.04 xserver-xorg-hwe-18.04
when that command finishes .. REBOOT.

Then post the output from:
Code: [Select]
uname -a
and hopefully it'll say you're on the 4.18 kernel.

Now if bluetooth works, but the memory issue returns .. maybe we can try moving you to the hwe-edge track (and hence the 5.0 series kernel) and see if that helps.

Now I am at the 4.18 kernel, but indeed the RAM eating has reoccurred, though Bluetooth works. Sound coming out my JBL Flip 2. I am awaiting your further instructions.

Code: [Select]
mefibo@mefibo-HP-Stream-Notebook-PC-11 ~ $ uname -a
Linux mefibo-HP-Stream-Notebook-PC-11 4.18.0-25-generic #26~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 27 07:28:31 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Okay let's see what happens if we move you to the 5.0 kernel via the 18.04-hwe-edge track.

Open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-18.04-edge
when that command finishes REBOOT   <-- IMPORTANT

Once rebooted, post the output from
Code: [Select]
uname -a
and test if your memory is still climbing ?

Here is a very, very happy user:

Code: [Select]
mefibo@mefibo-HP-Stream-Notebook-PC-11 ~ $ uname -a
Linux mefibo-HP-Stream-Notebook-PC-11 5.0.0-20-generic #21~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 27 04:04:37 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
mefibo@mefibo-HP-Stream-Notebook-PC-11 ~ $

The speaker works fine and RAM usage is stable!

Thank you very much for your persistent help. Now I can stay with the -by far - best linux distro I came across.
Should I refer to this topic in my topic (already marked as SOLVED cause I changed from 10 to 9) RAM fills up? After your answer, I will also mark this one as SOLVED.

Great news and you're most welcome :)

You now have to decide whether to reinstall PM10 then move to the hwe-18.04-edge track with just
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-18.04-edge
or to do a manual upgrade of PM9 --> PM10 following these instructions
https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,8442.msg86655.html#msg86655

or just to stay as is :)

BTW, I added this info to your other topic for you:

Thanks.
I see no reason to reinstall 10 right now, so I am going to stay with 9.

Following PCNetSpec's instructions, I no longer have to use the bluetooth dongle for bluetooth any longer in my Samsung laptop.  :)
What was I thinking?

Nice :)

As it's on the rolling HWE, the 5 series kernel will be coming to Peppermint 10 for everyone in a couple of months.
