Bluetooth speaker not found (SOLVED)
« on: June 27, 2019, 11:55:53 am »
Installed Peppermint 9 due to RAM issues with 10.
Works like a charm, except  bluetooth. My JB Flip2 is not found by the bluetooth manager. Some info:

Is this the device you have?
Like PCNetSpec suggested... make it dicoverable, then pair it and report back  ;)

I do not understand; in the Bluetooth manager menu I can only make my notebook visible, not the speaker? In Preferences I have to choose between DHCP Client or Network NMPAN Support because they are conflicting, Both do not work. And yes, that is my device.

Hi mefibo, you may have to use a bluetooth dongle to get bluetooth to work. My Samsung laptop wouldn't connect with bluetooth either but works well with a dongle.
What was I thinking?

Did you press the bluetooth button on the speaker for 3 seconds?

According to this
https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/279124/name+not+showing+in+the+Bluetooth+connection.

Quote
Press the Start button on the JBL Flip, it will make a warning beep and turn on. The start button will glow blue.

Press the '+' and '-' buttons together, and press the 'Bluetooth' button on the JBL Flip, and keep pressed until the Bluetooth button starts blinking blue. Now the JBL Flip is in pairing mode and can be discovered by the new device.

As mentioned, you have to discover your device and pair it first. Only then they will be aware of each other.
A common problem with combined wifi/bluetooth cards is that you have to choose what function to use.

Currently, I do not have a bluetooth card on any of my machines. So, can't help any further.  :(

Just as a test, is ANY bluetooth device discovered ?

I mean, does Peppermint discover your phone if you turn on bluetooth on the phone (and make it discoverable) ?

My phone is detected by Peppermint. I have tried to connect another bluetooth speaker with no luck.
