Asus Vivobook 12
« on: June 10, 2019, 09:18:52 am »
After living laptop-less for many months, I decided I missed being able to lounge on the couch or wander outside with a laptop. This popped up on a deep cleanse the shelves sale.  I did manage to dual boot Win & PM 10 in it for a bit, but the 32 gb drive doesn't allow much leeway.

Who needs Win10 when you've got Pep10 anyway :)

I've just realised next year we'll have a higher version number than both Windows and Mac :))

This little mini ASUS... has been surprisingly useful since I found it on sale a little over a year ago for just over $99 US. I am anything but a power user. Aside from a few youtube subscriptions I don't really push it too hard in video display. Elsewise its perfect for lounging around on the couch. Given that it's keyboard is so quiet, it's very handy when my other half is napping or asleep.

My wife has the same laptop.  I bought it for her 3 years ago for $199.  It still has windows on it but the next time an update breaks it, Linux!

I thought it was ghastly slow with Win10... but it practically it flies with Peppermint 10...   8)
I wish I had found a 64GB version, instead of the 32GB version...  ::)
but what the hey, it was $99 and change..  ;)
it's got a quiet keyboard, unlike the cool backlit klackity-klackity-klack noisy keyboard attached to my desktop...
