Greetings,

We are making progress but presently stumped. Pepp10 is on a external SSD and boots with my HP laptop. When I connect it to my desktop with Win7 it will not boot.

It is recognized in Bios and I designate it as the boot device. I get the initial black and white screen where you can select to progress or wait for the timeout and it will continue by itself. Thereafter the blinking cursor blinks about twice and the screen turns black and white text fills about one and a half screens. I cant screen print because I have to manually shut down the computer to escape and disconnect the external drive so it will then boot into Win7.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

GEMS.

Does the laptop have proprietary graphics driver, such as 'nvidia' loaded ?
(but the desktop doesn't have an nvidia card)

For example, if you installed Peppermint on the laptop and installed the proprietary nvidia drivers, it will now not boot on a system without an nvidia card .. that's the downside of proprietary drivers.

PCNetSpec,

I thought of that. I purposefully used the stock Pepp10 drivers for the initial boot-up..

Okay there could be other problems such as UEFI vs BIOS and possibly Secureboot.

Does a LiveUSB of Peppermint boot on the desktop ?

If so, can you post the output from:
Code: [Select]
inxi -Fz
(run in a Live environment on the desktop)

and again
Code: [Select]
inxi -Fz
(run from the external drive on your laptop)
