Launcher problems ( SOLVED )
« on: May 28, 2019, 04:01:28 pm »
Just installed Peppermint 10 yesterday and I must say I was very impressed that my network Samsung
printer/scanner worked without installing the Samsung drivers; first distro that has ever happened on.
Even Peppermint 9 wouldn't do that (well, the printer would work, but not the scanner).

Now, as to launchers, I wish that 'Create Launcher' was available on the right click desktop menu.
It would make it so much simpler than to manually make the launcher.

Also, (and this may possibly be a bug because it has never happened in Peppermint 9 or any other
Distros that I've used with XFCE) when I make an action button launcher on a panel, the launcher is
dead in the water (greyed out). This seems to happen only on an action button launcher, and not
other launchers. Does this happen to anyone else ?

The "Action Buttons" panel applet won't work in Peppermint I'm afraid, it relies on the xfce4-session manager, but we use lxsession for session management because it's lighter and faster.

Create launcher (on the desktop right-click context menu) .. I had figured out how to implement this a while back, let me look into it and get back to you.

FIX RELEASED

If you run a full system update, it should include peppermint-default-settings version 10.0.0.5

Once you've installed that update, if you right-click the desktop you should now have "Create new launcher here..." context menu item in Peppermint 10 (as it was in Peppermint 9)

Thank you, thank you !

Actually, I noticed that option in the context menu before I read your post
and wondered if I had just overlooked it before.
(These 74 year old eyes sometimes plays tricks on me)
So, again, I thank you for adding that to the menu.
I'll mark this solved.

However, a quick question:
Is it possible to edit the desktop right click context menu
to add or remove items ?
If not, is it possible to disable it without disabling the
mouse right click for everything else ?

Yes you can add/remove (some) right-click context menu items .. you'll need to research how nemo_action script work.

You'll find them, including IIRC a reference one (sample.nemo_action) at:-

/usr/share/nemo/actions

Otherwise you'll need to be more specific about what you want to remove.

[EDIT]

Please don't ask for a complete tutorial on nemo_action scripts, it's out there on the web already ;)
