None functional desktop home folder (SOLVED)
« on: May 27, 2019, 09:14:47 am »
For some reason the desktop home folder refuses to work, I've compared the file with the one on my Kubuntu installation and the only differences I can see is the line URL[$e]=$HOME in not colour coded like the other lines and the icon is called Home.desktop something it refuses to allow me to change to Home. any ideas how to fix this? thanks in advance :)

How did you create this "Home" launcher on your desktop ?

and what's the output from
Code: [Select]
ls ~/Desktop | grep desktop

I didn't create the "home" folder it was part of the installation ls ~/Desktop | grep desktop returns Home.desktop
trash.desktop

No there should be no icons on the desktop at all after installation (we don't ship with ANY desktop launchers) .. we certainly don't create a Home launcher.

Did you keep a home folder from a previous installation ?

Can I see it's contents
Code: [Select]
xed ~/Desktop/Home.desktop
and whist you're at it
Code: [Select]
xed ~/Desktop/trash.desktop

Ah now it makes sense the previous backup I used was created with deja vue on KDE  neon so it must have restored the desktop folders from there ok no problem I'll just delete them thanks for your help :)

Okay no problem .. but in future can you please remember to mark topics (SOLVED) when you consider them so.

You can do this by editing the FIRST posting in your topic and appending (SOLVED) to the Subject: line .. I've done this one for you.
