Firefox Next PPA
« on: May 25, 2019, 01:57:05 am »
Hi All

I have just installed Firefox next using the Firefox PPA. (Do so at your own risk it - you will always be on the Beta - remember that)

Code: [Select]
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-next
then
Code: [Select]
sudo apt dist-upgrade

So with the WARNING! out of the way I have to say

This Browser is ridiculously quick  :o  :o  :o.   I don't know what they have done but I am loving it.

Regards Zeb...

So is 68 quicker than 67, which was already a speed improvement over the 66 we shipped with ?
(or had you just not tried 67 ?)

Use the Firefox beta tar and you always get the latest updates and it won't stay on beta forever, but automatically updates to the newest beta ;)

Wanted to do the same for the Thunderbird 67 beta, but can't do it that way because it's missing an icon when I open the file :-\

Yep it updates, but you'll always be on the BETA track.

Yes I know, but I used the PPA in the beginning and it would never update to the next beta. With the tar it does and that's what I want. I always use the beta's. Very stable up till now.

If you mean updates via Firefox > Help > About Firefox .. then sure, that can only work if you have write permission in the directory it'll get updated into.

And yeah, I have no idea how often they update the PPA .. I just assumed it'd be regularly (as it's called Firefox-NEXT) .. but at least this way updates would be AUTOMATIC via the system updater.

[EDIT]

Really I should know better than to make assumptions :))
