er]

I am not able to boot Pep10 from a Samsung SSD. Previously I had booted Pep7,8 and 9. No problems. Checked the image CRC. No problem. Burned the image and loaded thru the optical drive in the laptop. Pep10 loaded for testing and would install (seemingly) to the SSD but No go. Reformatted and reinstalled many times. No go.

I do not know what to do. Is it possible that Pep10 does not like the CPU?
 Please advise. Thanks in advance.

What do you see when attempting to boot PM10, any error messages?

No error message. Goes through the bios flash screen then just a blinking cursor in the upper left of the screen. The SSD briefly flashes a few times when it should be the hand off to the boot process.

Boot to the LiveUSB stick

Now with the USB SSD attached, post the output from:
Code: [Select]
sudo fdisk -l
and
Code: [Select]
blkid

You mean the DVD I created or do you specifically want me to create a USB boot-able flash drive with the Pep10 loader? I want to insure I understand what you are saying. Thanks.

PCNetSpec,

This is interesting. When I use the Live Version I have no internet access. I presently am on the laptop using another External SSD ( exact same components just a SSD with Pepp9 ) and the loading and internet are fine.

Would you be interested in my running the terminal commands from this platform? I can plug in the Pepp10 configuration that failed to load.

Okay I'm going to assume GRUB didn't get installed to the ssd (/dev/sdd).
(we can fix this in a bit)

Can I ask how you choose which device to boot from ? .. is it via the boot device selection screen ? .. or is GRUB installed on the Windows drive (/dev/sda) ?

Are you able to boot Windows WITHOUT the external SSD attached ?

PCNetSpec,

I initially make the boot sequence USB then OPTICAL DRIVE then INTERNAL DRIVE. Beyond that if the USB drive is plugged in then you boot into Pep otherwise you boot into Windows.

Okay, boot to the Pep9 SSD, then plug in the Pep10 SSD .. now assuming the Pep10 SSD is still /dev/sdd .. open a terminal and run these commands in sequence:
Code: [Select]
sudo mount /dev/sdd1 /mnt
then
Code: [Select]
for i in /dev /dev/pts /proc /sys /run; do sudo mount -B $i /mnt$i; done
then
Code: [Select]
sudo chroot /mnt
then
Code: [Select]
grub-install /dev/sdd
then
Code: [Select]
update-grub
now hit Ctrl+D (to exit the chroot environment)

Shut down your PC

Remove the Pep9 SSD

Boot the machine.

did Pep10 boot ?
