Nice .. a bit wrong about "Optimus", which **does** get set up automatically when "Install third party drivers/software" is selected during the install .. maybe I didn't explain that well enough in the notes.

We had a discussion about this before the Wed show and his old laptop did not work with doing that...

Weird, my 3 Optimus laptops do .. guess it's a hardware specific issue then :(

[EDIT]

To tell the truth I doubt if NVIDIA will ever just work OOTB in all circumstances under Linux untill they open source their drivers so they can be included in the kernel.

Intel still rule in this regard .. now we just need em to bung out a decent card :)
(then we'll be cookin)

If he's right, there's not a lot of point unless I can say which hardware it works with and which it doesn't .. it'll still be a 'suck it and see' thing.

At this point all I can say with any certainty is "it works on my 3 Dell E6520/E6530's" .. so I kinda 'assumed' it'd work on any Optimus system where the 390 drivers would work.

[...] where the 390 drivers would work [...]

Exactly! 390 drivers don't work on my machine(s). But, 396 does.

Speaking of probs, P10 must be a hit. I'm having problems connecting to the server, this morning.  ;D

Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_TIMED_OUT
Check your internet connection.
Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems, or other network devices you may be using.

Allow Opera to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.

If you use a proxy server…
Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to the Main menu > Settings > Change proxy settings… > LAN Settings and deselect "Use a proxy server for your LAN".

Happens every release, even though we ask people to use torrents wherever possible .. maybe we need to look into some other method of distributing the ISO's

Right, and if I remember correctly, you contact the web host, and warn them that the site is going to get flooded for a few days.   ;)

Perhaps, by making torrent distribution the only option, during the first week, and/or making it hard for users to find direct download links from the Peppermint server(s) - like when one tries to find the Linux download links on the official Mozilla Firefox site.

You know, bury it a few levels down - make 'em click around the download page to find it  ;)

Looking into linking directly from GitHub downloads .. oh the irony of having Microsoft distribute for us :))

People wouldn't even have to be aware .. simple redirect.

Kinda like getting CDN, but Microsoft footing the bill .. well they do love Linux right ;)

Speaking of probs, P10 must be a hit. I'm having problems connecting to the server, this morning.  ;D

The 396 drivers used to install on Pep 9, but on my rig they don't in Pep 10. I have installed the 418 ones and they are, touch wood and whistle working fine.
All day today I've been trying to get on here, timed out every time. Still I'm here and really enjoying Pep 10. Congrats Mark another fantastic OS.  ;D
Not only is Peppermint an addictive OS to use.
But so is this Forum :)

While I appreciate his devotion to TeamPeppermint, one hopes EB comes back quickly with another more in depth video which digs into the meat of PMX while fawning less over the wallpapers.
