Mouse Scroll speeds [Solved]
« on: May 14, 2019, 05:03:39 am »
Hi

I have a wireless Logitech Performance MX mouse.  It's scroll speeds are insane.

It will scroll items in file manager - for example 26 lines

If I use a usb mouse it only scroll 4 lines which is much more manageable

This only happens in Peppermint.

I have tried using imwheels but to no avail.  the imwheelrc file contains
Code: [Select]
".*"
None,      Up,   Button4, 1
None,      Down, Button5, 1
Control_L, Up,   Control_L|Button4
Control_L, Down, Control_L|Button5
Shift_L,   Up,   Shift_L|Button4
Shift_L,   Down, Shift_L|Button5

and the command line to fire it up is
Code: [Select]
imwheel --kill --buttons "4 5"

Regards Zeb...

Okay can probably attack this from 2 directions

a) xinput
Can you post the output frrom
Code: [Select]
xinput --list
b) if you say it ONLY happens in Peppermint and not other 18.04 based distros, maybe swapping out evdev for libinput will help .. the reverse is something we do.
(i'll explain this if the xinput route gets us nowhere)

Okay run:
Code: [Select]
xinput --set-prop "Logitech Performance MX" "Evdev Scrolling Distance" 5, 5, 5
or maybe
Code: [Select]
xinput --set-prop "Logitech Performance MX" "Evdev Scrolling Distance" 10, 10, 10
or maybe even (experiment a little)
Code: [Select]
xinput --set-prop "Logitech Performance MX" "Evdev Scrolling Distance" 100, 100, 100
did that make any difference to how many lines it scrolls ?

Be aware this won't survive a reboot .. if it works, we'll have to autostart it.
