New to VPN [SOLVED]
« on: April 12, 2019, 11:57:22 am »
I'm new to the VPN concept. I am trying out different methods.  I have tried GNULINUX openvpn tutorial. I was able to get it to work. Nice tutorial by the way. Then I found a tutorial by AndyInMokum about a PPTP VPN. Found here: https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,2213.msg72207.html#msg72207
I can't get past the first step. I click on Network icon then VPN, then add a VPN but nothing happpens.  It appears I need a plugin or something. Would the Networking metapackage for Peppermint be what I need? Or PoPToP Point to Point Tunneling Server or something else so that I can try the tutorial out. I'm using Peppermint 9.?

try running
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install network-manager-pptp-gnome network-manager-openvpn-gnome
Then try Andy's instructions again.

You may also need to log off/on.
