Any way,
The printer works, thank God  ;D
and thank you !!!

Simple scan doesn't find the scan function.

I had a look at Gimp, whether this program scans.
Probably doesn't.
In Windows I use Irfan View for that purpose.
Is there something similar for Peppermint?

You don't put "9" at the command line .. you type it when it asks that question.

But if it's working now .. don't worry about it.

for the scanner, try installing XSane:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt install xsane

Now fire up
menu > Graphics > XSane Image scanning application

did it find your scanner ?

Giving in the command, I got:

elias@elias-System-Product-Name ~ : usb://Brother/MFC-250C?serial=BROC0F192209
9:: command not found
elias@elias-System-Product-Name ~  (A): Auto. (usb://Brother/MFC-250C?serial=BROC0F192209)
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `A'
elias@elias-System-Product-Name ~ $ sudo apt install xsane
[sudo] password for elias:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
elias@elias-System-Product-Name ~ $ sudo apt install xsane

Before I always copied and passed the commands.
Now I did it manually and got:

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
elias@elias-System-Product-Name ~ $

Then I decided to install Xsane using the software manager.
Installed, rebooted, but the scanner is not found.

Do what it suggests .. run:
Code: [Select]
sudo dpkg --configure -a
then try installing xsane again with:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt install xsane

Did that and got:

elias@elias-System-Product-Name ~ $ sudo dpkg --configure -a
[sudo] password for elias:
Setting up brscan-skey (0.2.4-1) ...
elias@elias-System-Product-Name ~ $ sudo apt install xsane
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
xsane is already the newest version.
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  gstreamer0.10-gconf gstreamer0.10-gconf:i386 libappindicator1:i386
  libatk-bridge2.0-0:i386 libatspi2.0-0:i386 libcairo-gobject2:i386
  libcanberra-gtk3-0:i386 libcanberra-gtk3-module:i386 libcanberra0:i386
  libcolord1:i386 libdbusmenu-glib4:i386 libdbusmenu-gtk3-4:i386
  libdbusmenu-gtk4:i386 libgsoap4 libgtk-3-0:i386 libindicator7:i386
  libnotify4:i386 libtdb1:i386 libunique-1.0-0:i386 libvncserver0
  libvorbisfile3:i386 libwayland-client0:i386 libwayland-cursor0:i386
  libxkbcommon0:i386 notification-daemon:i386
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 159 not upgraded.
elias@elias-System-Product-Name ~ $

Rebooted, but Xsane won't find the scanner part of the printer.
If that means, the scanner cannot work under Linux, I can close the post and put my old Canon Lide 20 at work.

Lide works perfect with Xsane !
I can live with that solution.
The printer works and that was the main thing.

Once again, thank you ever so much for all the help I encountered.
This really is the very best Forum I ever experienced.

I am dreaming of a society where people help and compliment each other,
where mutual respect and not money and abuse of power is the main and only motive.

I guess that 'Peppermint Media Group'  developed and finances Peppermint OS,
so the company must be build upon the same philosophy, which is the very best imaginable publicity for the companies products.
And hopefully works as an example for future start ups.

Here it works already !!!

What did you do when the installer asked you which number to enter ?

It might be worth uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them so you can answer the "usb" question correctly this time around .. do you want to try that, and do you want assistance ?
