What next with G+ Sign ins
« on: March 21, 2019, 04:03:00 am »
With Google Plus disappearing soon... what happens to all those sites where you used your G+ login as a one click entry ???

Will they still work...  Do you have to log into them before "Goodbye Day" and choose a different method.  Will you lose all your data.  Can you remember every site where you used your G+ login?   Jeesh this is going to be fun...

Hi zeb

There seems to be a lot of G+ refugees moving over to mewe and I'm sure I read on their blog they've developed software to make the switch easier I can't remember the full details but I suppose it makes sense for them to try and attract as many G+ users as possible, I'm not sure if it would help you but might be worth taking a look

Hi emegra,

Thanks for the info ( I am on MeWe) but I am not looking for a replacement for G+.  What I mean is, for example,  I log into Imgur by clicking on the G+ logo on their front page.  What happens when G+ is no longer there.  What happens to all the snapshots n stuff I have on Imgur that I get to via the G+ login.

There are also several other sites where I log in via this method as it was easier at the time to simply click G+

Are G+ logins still working for you, on any sites?

The G+ Sign-in feature has been fully deprecated, and legacy G+ APIs were shut down as of March 7, 2019.

If you're still able to use G+ logins on various sites, their devs may have already migrated to alternative APIs.

Hi

Well Imgur is still working by clicking on the G+ - I will let you know as I find others.

Looks like some sites have been pro-active in keeping it easy

You'll probably be okay.

Devs have had plenty of time to switch to alternative APIs.

These changes will only require haxoring  a few lines of code...   ;)

Looking at the sign in process closer.   Looks like it is just a google Sign and not a G+ sign and I doubt Google is going away anytime soon, so this might actually be a non issue/Topic

Ko-fi is the same - a Google sign in.

Was it ever a "G+" login ? .. or was it more just a "Google Account" login (which just happened to also be the G+ one) .. you'll still have a "Google account" (for Gmail, etc.), so I'd expect it to continue working.

But that's just a guess.
