Peppermint 8 likely used the 'intel' graphics driver rather than 'modesetting' .. that said, that doesn't explain why you don't have the issue in a Guest session :-\

Just out of interest, can you post the output from
Code: [Select]
inxi -Fzrun from a Guest session.

You could try this
https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,2790.msg27629.html#msg27629
but make sure you have a LiveUSB handy in case your system won't boot

So you can boot to the LiveUSB and delete the:-
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
file you just created.

Ok, I think it's time for me to file a bug report at Mozilla or ask for help there too. I don't think they will be very interested into investigating this problem, but at least I'll try it. I've been using Linux for a very long time and I've used several different distros along the way. I've never had this behavior before... even in this same computer and using peppermint!

I'm not sure it's a Firefox issue or it'd be happening in a Guest session too .. the problem is I can't think what it might be if it's happening in a new (unmodified) account too :-\

I'll keep scratching my head though, and if I come up with any new ideas I'll let you know.

I'm glad to report that the problem simply vanished... I haven't installed nor removed any software. I was only keeping my isystem updated. Today, I was using the computer and, to my complete surprise, the Firefox save dialog was working just fine.  :)

If anyone is curious, this is what was updated the last days:

So... how should I mark the subject? Solved?

There's been a Firefox update (to 66.0.1) some time in the last few days .. maybe that fixed it.

Yes, probably:
Code: [Select]
2019-03-25 10:47:12 upgrade firefox:amd64 65.0.1+build2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 66.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1
Thank you very much for your time, attention and effort helping me. I'll mark this as solved.
