Suddenly lost wifi - need help [SOLVED]
« on: February 19, 2019, 11:39:23 am »
Hi, guys,
All of the sudden, I lost wifi this morning.
The wifi icon shows that there is no connection. The system does not show any existing wifi networks. When the wifi setup window is opened, it shows that "WIFI enabled" checkbox is unchecked. Checking the checkbox does not help. On the reboot, the checkbox is unchecked again.
What is the way to troubleshoot the problem? My guess is that the wifi card could stop being functional, and it would make sense to check it status. I just do not know how to do it.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thank you,
XVC

rfkill list
Code: [Select]
0: tpacpi_bluetooth_sw: Bluetooth
              Soft blocked:  yes
              Hard blocked: yes
1: phy0: Wireless LAN
              Soft blocked:  no
              Hard blocked: yes

It looks like wifi is hardware-blocked.

Hi, guys,
I found the hardware switch. It is on the side of the laptop.
I accidentally switched it off - I did not even know that it was there.
The problem is solved.
Thank you to MNFrozenfish for the reply.
