Merging the Unallocated space

I have installed and using peppermint 9 OS using oracle VM virtual box.I have an unallocated space of 26GB which I would like to merge to my FIle system partition root. I am new to peppermint.Can anyone please suggest me the way i can merge the unallocated space?

In "Disks" (as in your picture), if you click the button with the 2 little cogs on it, there should be an option to "Resize".

I can't offer much more than that as I've never tried resizing a partition in a statically allocated VM .. I usually choose dynamically allocated VM's in VBox.

I'd advise you clone the VM first (them operate on the clone) .. so if anything goes wrong, you still have the original to fall back on.
