access iphone photos
« on: February 03, 2019, 11:42:50 pm »
Hello,

I need help backing up family photos from a full iPhone.  I messed around with Ifuse and Shotwell but can't get anything to show me the phone.  The "lsusb" command provides the only evidence of a connection that I can find.   Maybe the phone still has to be mounted somehow, but my attempts have all failed...  Any help would be appreciated

After you plug the phone into the computer, there should have been something on the phone screen to allow the connection. If you don't hit "Allow," it won't show up on the computer.

All you need to do is plug in the iPhone .. accept the "Allow Connection?" on the iPhone .. then open the file manager, and the iPhone should be available in the left-hand pane.

Navigate into the iPhone and look for the DCIM folder which should contain your photos.

Do Iphones have an "enable USB Debugging" option?
What was I thinking?

Nope, the iPhone will let you access that folder, and only that folder.
