@grafiksinc

What happens if you run
Code: [Select]
xed ~/.asoundrc
and when a BLANK file opens, you make it read
Code: [Select]
pcm.!default {
type hw
card 1
}

ctl.!default {
type hw
card 1
}
then reboot to test .. does sound work now ?

I went through the steps as suggested.
Rebooted and yes sound still works. ;)

Let me know if you want to test anything further. :D

No I think we're done with yours .. I can't really apply that on the ISO as it may stop audio working for some other people.

Though thinking about it there may be a UCM fix that'd do the same thing without affecting others, or maybe just giving chtrt5645 a higher priority than HdmiLpeAudio  .. I'll look into it and let you know.

@alynur

can you run:
Code: [Select]
dmesg > ~/Desktop/dmesg.txt
then host the dmesg.txt file that just appeared on your desktop somewhere like
http://www.tinyupload.com/
and provide a link to it.

I'm trying to figure out if some second audio adapter isn't being detected, or whether HdmiLpeAudio can be used on it's own to provide audio to more than just HDMI

Have you checked audio over HDMI yet ?

@alynur

I think it was me actually  ;D

http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=34607131392458156175

Code: [Select]
[    4.456594] [drm] HDaudio controller not detected, using LPE audio instead
Code: [Select]
[    8.193575] input: Intel HDMI/DP LPE Audio HDMI/DP,pcm=0 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/hdmi-lpe-audio/sound/card0/input4
[    8.193939] input: Intel HDMI/DP LPE Audio HDMI/DP,pcm=1 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/hdmi-lpe-audio/sound/card0/input5

I haven't tried HDMI audio yet. There might be a Dell monitor with audio pass-through that I could plug it into.

Is there anyone on here that has one of those weird machines that have a 64bit CPU but a 32bit UEFI ?
(usually netbooks with cherrytrail/baytrail Atom CPU's such as Z3735F or similar)

If so I have a Peppermint 9 ISO I'd like testing.

Anyone ?

Yes I have a Intel Atom, that has a Clover 64bit processor, that I cannot install Linux on, cause of the 32bit UEFI. It has Winders 8 and I hate it, bought it at a car boot, though the lady selling it said she had not got the charger for it. I searched everywhere for one to buy, Acer do not support this anymore. I finally found one on Amazon for 40.00, which took a month to get here. I bought the PC for 45.00, then another 40.00 for the charger. It's a good tablet, just that I can't install Linux on it and how much I hate Winders 8? Answer a hell of a lot.  >:( Would love Peppermint on it and have it on the tablet side too, as the screen comes off to use the inbuilt camera and it can film 1080p quality, have rattled my brains to get Linux on it, but every review of this PC says it cannot be done, cause Intel locked the processor, to only support Winders 8, not 10, just 8.  :( In fact it makes me wanna  :'(

Here is a few reviews of it on YouTube.

The USB is booting to the grub screen menu, but trying to boot to install it, just leaves a blank screen. What I have not done yet is switch off anything else in the bios, so bare with me I have the patients of a Elephant, so will persevere. ;D

Got rid of secure boot and just a blank screen again, though still goes to the grub menu. I have noticed a length error Buflength = 522   comes up when idle,  on the menu screen. :( Even check disc for defects does not wanna know. Is there anything I could put into the edit line to force it to boot?  ;D

I see what the problem is, the actual Windows 8 is 32bit too and I only have 2GB of ram, hence why I cannot install a 64bit Peppermint, though the processor is 64bit, only a 32bit. So as I type will try a 32bit Peppermint. ;D Problem is need 32bit UEFI in the 32bit Peppermint, the question is how?  :-\
