installing curl problem
« on: August 06, 2014, 07:11:42 am »
Hey guys, am really new to Linux, but getting on ok with it, except..

After obtaining the latest curl-7.37.1 and unpacking then do ./configure it gets stuck here

configure: error: ar not found in PATH. Cannot continue without ar.

Been trawling around but not getting far.
Any pointers

That can't be right as ar is part of binutils

What's the output from
Code: [Select]
ls -l /usr/bin/arand
Code: [Select]
echo $PATHand
Code: [Select]
dpkg -l | grep binutils
