There are no real images of video files in the file manager.

I would be grateful if you help solve the following non-fundamental problem. However, I had the following error detected. Instead of the real image in the preview video files in the file manager are displayed everywhere in the form of a clock. Tell me what could be the problem. Thank you in advance.

HI jwserg

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're saying but if your video files are not showing as thumbnails do the following

Open your Videos folder and on the top taskbar Edit>Prefrences

a dialogue box will open at the top click Preview then click the down arrow beside "Only for files smaller than"  and select a size larger than the largest file size in your folder ie I have mine set for 1GB.

Hope I've explained that ok

Good luck

Graeme

Hello Graeme
Thank you very much for the quick response. I must say that you understood my question correctly. As you said, I did it even earlier. However, after that, all the video icons were converted to others - with the clock (this kind of when the file is downloaded). I used to be on Peppermint 8, everything worked well (according to the scheme you set out - I put 4 GB). I reinstalled the Peppermint 9 on my ASUS X55 laptop. It works much better than the P8, but there is a problem with thumbnails. Maybe I still do not take into account something. Thank you in advance ???

Hi jwserg

I'm sorry but I'm not fully understanding you, could you post an image of the thumbnails in your Video folder so I can see for myself the problem you're having

If you're not sure how to post an image have a look at this video I made a while back

Yep this was a bug in the 32bit version of P9 .. fixed in the respin.

Someone said deleting the contents of
~/.cache/thumbnails
and
~/.thumbnails
then rebooting fixed it for them .. worth a try.

Thanks for the answer. But I, unfortunately, did not quite understand how to make these deletions.

Okay, open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
nemo ~/.cache/thumbnails
when a file manager window opens, delete everything in it

close the window

back in the terminal run
Code: [Select]
nemo ~/.thumbnails
when a file manager window opens, delete everything in it

Reboot.

Thank you for your help and patience. Deleted, as stated, but everything returned to the initial image. Thumbnails never appeared. Showing a screenshot.

Hi PCNetSpec, would this also be a fix for P 9R 64bit?
What was I thinking?
