can't start usb live/ install peppermint

it just say:

usb 1-3: string descriptor 0  read error: -22

i've tried with many usbsticks, made with unetbootin, rufus, what ever that ubuntus own is called.. . with windows and linux...

any ideas what is happening here?

there's nothing wrong with lubuntu but I would like to get peppermint on my  Asus E403s
