upgrading to 9
« on: December 05, 2018, 05:49:45 pm »
Hi,

I have P'mint 8 as my main OS.  I wish to upgrade to 9 and have installed that as a live OS on a USB stick.

Is there a way of transferring files from Thunderbird and Writer from 8 to 9 in the installation process?  Without losing them of course.

There is no 'upgrade' path from 8 to 9 .. it requires a full fresh reinstall.

However it would be possible to copy off your ~/.thunderbird directory to an external drive .. then put it back after installing Peppermint 9 and Thunderbird .. so you don't loose your email and settings.

Not sure what you mean by "writer" ?

I should have said Libre Writer.  Sorry.

It won't be too hard for me to type in what I want to save into 9.  There isn't too much of it.

Thanks for your reply PCnetSpec.

BTW, you may want to hold off for a couple of weeks, we're hoping to release the Peppermint 9 Respin this side of Christmas ;)
