USB drive permissions on Pep 8 and 9
« on: December 05, 2018, 05:22:15 am »
Wow this is too much... I have problems recently with Multisystem. Actually this may go back to my issues with my M6 Laptop. But it seems because of that system crashing as per the course so that I could not be sure of another distribution ISO had copied correctly. I tried to copy the ISO from my crashing M6 Touchsmart running Pep9 to the USB because I had not been able to run Multisystem with it in this last installation instance.

So now on my Avertech running Pep 8 and my M6 running Pep 9 my Multisystem USB drive is Read Only and Root/Sudo can not change those permitions on either machine.

I have all but given up on Peppermint on my M6 do to these crashes. My technical abilities here amount to "Perhaps go back to PClinuxOS" for the crashing issues that seem to be IRQ based. Just to do something different but familiar.

I did attempt to delete the file and copy it again before attempting the installation. But both failed.

Command line out put from attempting to delete the file using my Avertech Peppermint 8.
Code: [Select]
root@RoastedPenquen /media/mobileme/RAVAGE/Storage2 # rm -f -v /media/mobileme/RAVAGE/Storage2/pclinuxos-kde5-darkstar-2018.06.iso
rm: cannot remove '/media/mobileme/RAVAGE/Storage2/pclinuxos-kde5-darkstar-2018.06.iso': Read-only file system
root@RoastedPenquen /media/mobileme/RAVAGE/Storage2 #

Out put from Multisystem:
Code: [Select]
Error: Do you have write permission in this folder?: /media/mobileme/RAVAGE

Code: [Select]
Error:
EXIT:
laisserpasser-usb:
selection-usb:
mountpoint-usb:
selection-uuid-usb:
device:

Please help me at least solve these USB permission issues that were not until now an issue on the
Avertech Peppermint 8 installation.

Regards

"Read-only file system" suggests the drive has a file system error .. so was remounted read-only.

Or if it's an SDcard, maybe the write protect tab is set to locked.

I believe that seeing as the system crashed during file copy.

Anyway I should have thought last night or even before to use the stock image writer from the repo. Use the stock image writer on another random USB drive and avoid all the other nonsense.

PCLINUX crashes from the LIVE CD.  The same way Peppermint is doing from the hard drive.

This M6 Touchsmart is killing me.
