So what you're saying is that Google/Apple are 'doing a Microsoft' with webkit ?

Yup .. [snip] .. And, if Edge swaps engines, it will become the new IE6  :)

Hence why I not only 'don't', but 'won't' use a webkit browser .. I'll continue to support Firefox's attempt to keep web standards more 'open' and universal.

[EDIT]

Plus it's just 'better' ;)

Only thing I use Chromium for, these days, is my bots. Got three of them running in the background, as I type.

The code I use won't work on Fx, And, Opera crashes after a day or so.

Damn Chromium anyway  :P

Google has been evil for years, so this isn't news to us. ;)

So being evil is okay as long as you don't say "do no evil" in your terms of service ?

If that's the case, surely leaving it in the terms of service would be the "evil" thing to do .. and set up a paradox at the same time :)

[EDIT]

I think I just confused myself ???

This is an uphill battle for Firefox.  This pretty much means that there will be two rendering engines and two browsers (or their clones) that will be churning and bringing us the world's data in usable forms.  There will be Firefox and there will be Chrome.

Google pretty much has the search market cornered.  Google's DNS servers are all over the planet.  Google's Android phones are all over the planet too.  More than half the time our email is likely to end up on some Gmail server, and then there's Google Analytics from which it's absolutely impossible to escape.

Yeah, it's Google's world now.  There's a Google World app, and Google has even mapped the world for us too!

Plus, Big G gives one directions on how to get there, provides an overview of the route, and estimates the travel time.  :)
