Also, have you recently updated you system?

I forgot to respond this, I will put in order what happened:

1 - I installed the Peppermint 9, all ok.
2 - I used Firefox and I shut down the notebook hours later.
3 - I turn on the notebook, the keyboard was working at grub
4 - When Peppermint was loaded, I tried do use the keyboard but it did not worked
5 - I saw a notification saying that had dozens of updates, so I connected  another keyboard and installed the updates
6 - The problem persists

Does the keyboard/mouse work if you log into the Guest session ?

Do they work if you boot a liveUSB ?

And are you saying they stopped working BEFORE you installed ANY updates ?

So it worked from the Peppermint LiveUSB when you first installed it, but now when you boot from the same LiveUSB it doesn't  :-\

Are you sure there's not a switch somewhere that disables them ?

I think I changed nothing. I found other guy with the same notebook model and with the same problem, he did not resolved it. I will use puppy on this notebook and try to use pepper in my PC when I can heal him, I like pepper interface...

I reinstalled, again the it works until I shut down the notebook.

In matter, I shutdown the notebook with keyboard working and when I turn on it stops working.

Code: [Select]
joel@tralha ~ $ xinput --list
⎡ Virtual core pointer                    id=2 [master pointer  (3)]
⎜   ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer              id=4 [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎜   ↳ USB OPTICAL MOUSE                        id=10 [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎜   ↳ USB OPTICAL MOUSE                        id=11 [slave  pointer  (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard                    id=3 [master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard              id=5 [slave  keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Power Button                            id=6 [slave  keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Video Bus                                id=7 [slave  keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Power Button                            id=8 [slave  keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Sleep Button                            id=9 [slave  keyboard (3)]
    ↳ USB 2.0 PC Cam                          id=12 [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ Topstar Laptop extra buttons            id=13 [slave  keyboard (3)]
↳ CHICONY USB NetVista Full Width Keyboard id=14 [slave  keyboard (3)]

it makes little sense to me that xinput seems to work from the LiveUSB but not once installed :-\

As an experiment, can you try running
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get -y remove --purge xserver-xorg-input-evdev && sudo apt-get -y install xserver-xorg-input-libinput
once that finishes, reboot to test .. does the keyboard/touchpad work now ?

If not, you can UNDO that with:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get -y remove --purge xserver-xorg-input-libinput && sudo apt-get -y install xserver-xorg-input-evdev

Can you run:
Code: [Select]
dmesg > ~/Desktop/dmesg.txt
you'll then find a file on your desktop called dmesg.txt .. can you host that somewhere like
http://www.tinyupload.com/
and post a link to it.

Something else .. it would be nice to check if an update is breaking detection of your keyboard/touchpad

If you're up for it, could you reinstall Peppermint but reinstall WITHOUT any kind of internet connection (ie. DON'T set up wireless during the install, and don't have an ethernet connection) .. once installed, reboot and tell us if the touchpad/keyboard still works ?
