Well you must have screwed up something....

I just put that image in
/usr/share/peppermint/wallpapers

then edited
/etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf
to point at it.

and it works perfectly  :-\



Also worked in pantheon-greeter.
WARNING: You are logged into reality as 'root' .. logging in as 'insane' is the only safe option.

Apparently I didn't have the permissions set right (I could've sworn I did). Problem solved!

For anyone wondering, you don't need to reboot or logout. Just save lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf and lock the screen.
