Does it resume from suspend if you enter suspend with:
Code: [Select]
sudo pm-suspend --quirk-vbemode-restore
if that doesn't work .. try it with a single hyphen:
Code: [Select]
sudo pm-suspend -quirk-vbemode-restore
if it resumes from either of those .. let us know which.

YAAY! Both sleep and hibernate work for me now. Here's what I did:

Followed instructions from this thread:
ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2219537

which i think is basically what was posted earlier creating a com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla file

Followed instructions #2-5 from this thread:
ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2143370

Not sure which fixed one or both, but now I can both suspend and hibernate my laptop and recover.
Matt

Hi MattD, how's it going?  I see you have run foul of the hibernation issue.  For some unexplained reason Ubuntu has decided to disable the hibernate feature on their 14.04 release  :-\.  Anyway hibernate works from the command line.  Open a terminal, Ctrl+Alt+t.  Enter the following command:
Code: [Select]
sudo pm-hibernate

Hit enter and do the password thing if asked.
Backup! Backup! Backup! If you're missing any of these -  you ain't Backed Up!
