Peppermint 9 on Intel stck1a32wfc
« on: August 13, 2018, 12:30:15 am »
Hello again.  I removed Windows from the stick computer and converted it into a Linux machine.  It now runs 3 onboard Linux distributions and Windows 10 is installed on an external usb hard drive for use if and when.  Recently i re-visited the Peppermint website and once I found that Peppermint 9 had been released i was anxious to try it (especially after all the effort by the team to get Peppermint 8 working).  I keep Peppermint 8 up to date on another machine by the way.
I am pleased to report that Peppermint 9 installed straight away without any problems.  I downloaded it, installed it on a usb stick and then on the stck1a32wfc.  That was it, there was nothing else to do.  It is stable, starts and stops swiftly and has vlc which is a big plus for me  So a big thank you from me.

Wish list:  One thing that I miss from Windows is Netmeter - a simple real time graphical presentation of the network download and upload speed.  I wondered whether something like this is available for Peppermint Linux?.
Cheers all.

Hi polly,

You might want to check out the package xfce4-netload-plugin.

Hi Slim.

Thanks for the information.  I have found the package and some documentation so off to do some leaning.

Hi Slim.
Done.  That was easier than I thought it would be.  Many thanks.
