Whiskermenu… edits in gtk3
« on: July 24, 2018, 06:16:05 pm »
For those wishing to theme Whiskermenu… in gtk3, here is an example theme. I have made it so that it compliments the POP! Theme nicely (from system76). Hopefully it will give folks a useful template to edit and customize for their own purposes.

This file should be placed in your:
Code: [Select]
/home/<username>/.config/gtk-3.0folder as:
Code: [Select]
Code: [Select]
/* bottom of the main body area */
#whiskermenu-window {
background-color: #393634;
color: #E5E5E5;

/* Make sidebar buttons match */
#whiskermenu-window button {
background-color: #574F4A;
color: #F1E9E9;
#whiskermenu-window button:hover {
background-color: #B0710B;
color: #FFA500;
#whiskermenu-window button:checked {
background-color: #574F4A;
color: white;

/* main body area */

#whiskermenu-window treeview:hover {
background-color: #F3E8D4;
color: #251212;

#whiskermenu-window treeview {
background-color: #F9F9F9;
color: #1a1a1a;

/* whiskermenu outer border */

#whiskermenu-window border {
background-color: #574F4A;
border-color: #4C4845;
Just log out and login to see the changes...

Hi manyroads how's it going  :)?  Thanks you for the cool tutorial  8).  It's always good when our members dive in and get involved  ;).

Note: When posting commands or edits for the text editor, could you please remember to encapsulate them with the Insert, Code # function.  For extra long entries, please use the Spoiler, Sp function.  If you're using either the Chromium Browser or Google Chrome, don't combine these functions.  Only use one or the other per output  ;).  These functions allow the user to see how entries look in the system text editor.   Doing this is a huge help  ;).  It makes it much easier for future visitors; especially novice or newbies  ;).

These functions are found in the forum editor, above the,  :-[ Embarrassed and  the :'( Cry emoticon respectively.  You can click on the Preview button to see how it'll look in the forum.  I've done it for you this time - many thanks  ;).
Backup! Backup! Backup! If you're missing any of these -  you ain't Backed Up!

Can you post an image of the menu after the tweak?

Thanks, Steve

These can also be modified in the Peppermint gtk themes.

Take for example the default "Peppermint Red-Dark" theme .. you'll find the whiskermenu sections mentioned above at the end of this file (just above the @define-color section):
Code: [Select]
xed /usr/share/themes/Peppermint-Red-Dark/gtk-3.0/gtk.css
WARNING: You are logged into reality as 'root' .. logging in as 'insane' is the only safe option.
