I got a new Asus RT-AC86U router and I have a 32 gb usb drive plugged into it.  I can easily connect to it with windows 10 but not with Peppermint 8.  It finds the drive and a box pops up asking for a password.  I enter the userid, the network domain, and the password but it will not connect.  It would connect easily with my old TP-Link router.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Thanks.  But that didn't help me.  It's frustrating as I can see the folder but I cannot access it.

What userid and password are you using? e.g. did you set up a user ID and password on the router for the shared drive or are you using your Peppermint userid/password?

Does windows ask for a userid and password?

I'm using the the correct login info.  However, after a lot of searching I finally found something that works.

Edit the smb.conf file in /etc/samba/
Right under the workgroup=WORKGROUP line add the following two lines:

client use spnego=no
client ntlmv2 auth=no

Then reboot and enter the router login ID and Password when requested and it works!
