I wouldn't have thought you'd need to do anything on that system, but then I'm not a gamer.

My stepson is an avid gamer.  He says with that combo of CPU, graphics card and high end gaming Samsung SSD EVO 970 , you should have everything you need for an awesome gaming experience  ;)

I'm assuming neggard knows his system is plenty powerful enough for gaming .. in reality I think the question is more one of:-

High end gamers tend to try all sorts of weird and wonderful tweaks to eek out that single extra frame per second (often even at the risk of melting either their hardware, their marriage, their bank managers sanity, or the polar ice caps) .. what tweaks do you use ?
:)

Ah, now I'm with you.  Tweaks like overclocking their GPU to the point it'll need a liquid helium cooling system to stop it from going nova :)).  I think scifidude79 is the person to answer that question  ;).

I start the thread for everyone to talk about how to make game experience better.
I know many gamers just change the cpu governor to performance.

I'm a gamer but i never really "tweaked" my system to get extra performance, as long as i get my >= 30FPS and good graphics i'm a happy gamer  :) , i think it's more about getting used to play in a certain way, you don't really notice the difference between 30 - 60 FPS unless you suddenly switch between them, i already experienced this feeling and it was not that big of a deal. After a few games i got used to play in either 30 or 60 mode, so i don't really get it when i see people doing all kinds of tweaking to gain 5-10 fps which is not that noticeable and you'll forget about it after a few games imo.

Usually, with Nvidia, it's just: Install system and update, install proprietary driver using the Additional Drivers utility, get rid of screen tearing, install games and enjoy. With that quad core i7, I can't think of too much you'd need to do with the processor, it's more than up to the task of handling any games for Linux that I know of.

Unless you're trying to play Ark: Survival Evolved on Linux. In that case, good luck.  ::)
