audio/video playback speed too fast (SOLVED)
« on: July 25, 2014, 03:50:47 pm »
OK. I have another post on my audio problems. Perhaps this one is related.  I'm working on a brand new Peppermint 5 install.
All my multimedia playback occurs too fast. (This did not happen in Peppermint 4)
I'm playing youtube videos and the playback speed is about 2x normal.  A 1 minute video plays in 30sec !!
I get the same thing for local mp3 playback. A 4 minute song plays in about half the time.  What the---?!
How can I fix this?

Hi,

When the videos play do they show movements much faster than normal? When an mp3 is played is the pitch raised (that is, does it sound like the "chipmunks" are singing)?

No. It is as if "frames" are being skipped. Pitch is just fine.  I did find other posts complaining about the default "pulseaudio" audio manager.  I completely uninstalled it (what a pain) then switched to using the alsa packages.  Problem solved! Audio/video work perfect now.

Hey, that's great, mkdoggett!! Glad to hear that you solved your problems. I also had trouble with pulse-audio and converted to alsa.

If you consider your problems as completely solved, please go to your first posting, click on Modify and add (SOLVED) to the subject line.

Thanks in advance,
