Kernel panic after LiveCD (peppermint 9)
« on: July 13, 2018, 10:14:26 am »
Guys, i have problems with Peppermint 9 LiveCD. First, i burned Peppermint 9 Install CD(amd64) to my dvd disk then i reboot and peppermint imstall menu appears after choosing "Try Peppermint without installing" and kernel panic appears (look at image below)

Tried with usb stick, same issue. Also tried other distros such as Ubuntu, same issue..

Do you know how to add the "noapic" kernel boot parameter as a test ?

Have you tried the acpi=off kernel boot parameter .. again just as a boot test, I'm not suggesting this as the fix.

So I'm guessing it didn't work then ?

Does ANY distro/version work ?

Can you tell us a bit about your hardware, such as laptop maker/model ?

This is usually from a bad download or a bad burn, try re-burning it a slow speed no faster then 8x on a different dvd or use a thumb drive and see what happens

its just so strange to experience problems booting a live dvd ore USB and you get problems.
i started this topic  with the same problem so it seems
https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,7572.0.html

and some old system have got starting this problem after 18lts.
peppermint 8 will start up, 9 gives kernel panic.
trying to get people enthusiast trying linux is always with older hardware, so not fine if things don work

One method would be to install Unetbootin in your windows system, then making a bootable usb only using the hard drive method in Unetbootin. Rebooting will give the option to boot up Unetbootin which will directly boot the live session of whatever you installed, P 9 in this instance. I don't have windows but I do have seven linux distros installed in my computer. I got tired of searching for the right usb stick to reformat.
