If you're going to install in UEFI mode, the first thing you're going to want to do is format the hard drive with a GPT partition table (otherwise Windows will install in Legacy BIOS mode again) .. give us a shout when you're ready and we'll explain how to do this.
I am ready to reinstall windows in UEFI-mode.  Inside the ZBook is a 256GB SSD, I guess space enough for both systems, each around 120GB
That would be the easiest way I think.  I still have a 128GB SSD for eventually installing Peppermint 9, using it at first with  an USB cable and later in the caddy I ordered.
So, could you please explain to me how I can format the 256GB SSD into GPT-Partition, in order to install first Windows on that  SSD?

Ignore that, it's in the topic title .. doh!!

Anyway, set the system BIOS so UEFI mode.

Reboot to the Peppermint LiveUSB

Open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
sudo swapoff -a

Open GParted

In Gparted select the 256GB  SSD in the drop menu (top right)

Then go to Device > Create Partition Table

Choose GPT as the partition table type. <-- be positive you want to do this as it will wipe the drive

Once you've done that and now have an empty drive, reboot to the Windows 10 installation media and do a normal install .. it should install in UEFI mode.

Once you have Windows 10 installed come back here and we'll shrink the Windows paprtition, ready for Peppermint.

The drive is wiped, but I cannot reboot, because I cannot log out: get an error: failes to log out. Failed to execute child process "Peppermint logout" (input/output error)
Shouls I just do a hard reboot and push the power button for a few seconds?

If the drive is wiped, just hold the power button until the PC switches off.

BUT

If the LiveUSB is doing that, there may be something wrong with it .. so I'd be worried about using it to install Peppermint.

But that's an issue for after you get Windoews loaded .. so for now just kill the PC with the power button.

I felt already that this would be the only option and on the way to install windows ...
In order to be sure using a genuine Peppermint 9, I looked for ordering the USB stick, before creating other problems, but it seems it is not yet available?

Got another problem: while installing the drivers from the HP-disk, I recently received from HP, Windows crashed and had to be restored, because it couldn't boot anymore. So once Windows installed, I checked if the boot option in UEFI mode still was available, which is not.
So I wonder whether Windows is or is not installed in UEFI-mode. I guess, in order to install Peppermint, I have to boot in UEFI-mode in any case  ...

Okay now you need to shrink the Windows partition leaving space for Peppermint.

How large is the drive Windows is on ?

And how much space do you want to steal from Windows and set aside for Peppermint ?
