Peppermint 9 - Adding the automount feature back in
« on: June 25, 2018, 05:58:26 pm »
We removed the automount feature in Peppermint 9 because honestly in Peppermint 7/8 it was a bit of a hack of the thunar volume manager forced to launch Nemo instead   .. but mainly because it was slow to respond and annoyed the heck out of me, not to mention it added 13MB to our RAM footprint, which was kinda wasted if most people were simply disabling it because of its clunkyness (the daemon would still be launched at login even if automounting was switched off in the settings).

That said I've packaged it up for those that would like the feature back.....

Download one of these 2 files depending on your architecture

If you're running 64bit Peppermint 9 download this file
https://peppermintos.info/misc/peppermint-volman/peppermint-volman_0.0.0.1_amd64.deb

If you're running 32bit Peppermint 9 download this file
https://peppermintos.info/misc/peppermint-volman/peppermint-volman_0.0.0.1_i386.deb

Once you have the file, just double click it to install.

Once installed, log off then back on again (so the daemon gets started).

You shouldn't need to change the settings, but if you want to the above .deb's also adds a menu item:-

Menu > Settings > Removable drives and Media

Enjoy ;)

Probably a wise move as there have been several users asking where it went.   ;)
