He's very happy, and he's discovering Firefox in the process!    ;)

Thank you very much, PCNetSpec.
[T]here are a lot of people happily running Peppermint ICE which hasn't been receiving ANY updates for a while now .. and I personally would STILL consider that MUCH more secure than any version of Windows with up-to-date AV/Anti-malware ;)

But we learned something here, we learned what the probable suspects are.

And on those two old computers I worked on, I ended up putting Xubuntu on one computer, and Lubuntu on the other.  Maybe, just maybe, this is a Chromium issue.  I believe Xubuntu's compositor is very much active in Xubuntu.

This is not easy detective work, and we still have two suspects here.  One looks as if it has a better alibi than the other, but who knows?  And I could have done just fine without that new aura feature now found in Chromium for improved scrolling.

No, we're all coming out of this thread with more knowledge than when we entered into this topic -- and you knew what we should try in order to eliminate certain possibilities.

Sorry, PCNetSpec, whether you like it or not, you're still getting a blue ribbon and a gold star for this one.  We've learned a lot here!   ;)
