Shutdown Logo
« on: June 14, 2018, 09:33:37 am »
Forum, For Peppermint 9
What do you think about using your nicer logo  ;) (See the image below) for the shutdown screen. (maybe with white characters on the dark theme)

One of My computers has P8 Re-spin 2
That logo on the shutdown screen there I dunno....... every time I see it..... I feel like it's out of place for some reason.

This is all preference of course... ;) just thought I would ask..

I'd kinda agree with you, I dunno quite what I was on when I did that .. IIRC I thought it looked great at the time, so maybe i was drunk, or possibly concussed :))

Anyway, the shutdown logo for Peppermint 9 is toned down considerably :)

Cool, thanks!

How do you go about editing the shutdown screen?

you mean the "shutting down" screen, with the progress bar ?

The plymouth "splash" themes are in

/usr/share/plymouth/themes

But emember they are as mush scripts as artwork, and changes won't be applied (at least to the plymouth startup screen) unless/until you update-initramfs

Apologies PCNetSpec.

I mean the logout screen which shows logout, shutdown, reboot etc.

There is a peppermint logo at the top which is normally the lxde logo. ???

How are you getting that screen up ? .. because it should show the Peppermint logout banner, not the LXDE one.

It does show the peppermint logo. I was wondering how you can change that.

e.g How did you guys change from the lxde logo to peppermint?

Again, edit this file
/usr/share/peppermint/images/logout-banner.png

and change it to whatever you want, as longs as it's 352x125

PCNetSpec

Thank you very much for your patience mate.

I have made this ten times more difficult than it should be by my own wrong doing  >:(

I'm still learning and I'm trying to get away from using GUI apps for everythiing. I love editing a .config file and seeing the outcome.

P.S Can't wait for No 9  :) Can we have a sneek preview!

Much respect to you and the whole team.

If you're trying to figure out which config file tells that image to be loaded, it's in the lxsession configuration file:-

System wide default
Code: [Select]
/etc/xdg/lxsession/Peppermint/desktop.conf
User specific copy
Code: [Select]
~/.config/lxsession/Peppermint/desktop.conf
The line you're looking for is:-
Code: [Select]
quit_manager/image=/usr/share/peppermint/images/logout-banner.png
is that what you were after ?

Sure thing...

Here's the top left corner of the new Peppermint 9 desktop

Always happy to oblige, hope that wets your whistle :))
