I'll negate that as the ethernet connection is resolving just fine... or does Wifi access any differently?

No it's the same, but you could have had different DNS servers set in your wired/wireless network profiles ;)

Anyway, have you tried deleting your current wireless network profile and recreating it ?

It would also be handy if you could try the adpater on another PC .. to rule in/out it having failed.

I have never messed with DNS servers, that I recollect. It's been advised, but I have always walked away from that as it's handled by the router in other half's domain of expertise. Currently on my machine, both the wired and wireless connections are Automatic DHCP, and thus IPV4 settings are blank. When I select "Connection Information" I note that the IPV4 address is different for Wired vs wireless, but all the rest of the fields are the same.  I've got several things going on currently and don't need any network recreating hassle today...

I do however have a laptop sitting in the living room that my Mom sent to me to triage, but I'm sure it's infected beyond all get out... I released all other devices to the recycling universe...

Thanks for helping me narrow it down, I'll report back later today or in the next few days after Mom's laptop is cleared...

Okay, hubby offered to install the dongle in his Win10 machine... He was able to get it installed and working lickety-split... pages that took forever on my machine loaded instantly for him...

So back to square one...

Okay, you're going to need to try deleting your wireless network profile in networkmanager, then try setting up wireless again.

and if that doesn't work, you'll have to go through the log at
Code: [Select]
xed /var/log/apt/history.log
and tell us what got updated today .. should be near the bottom of that file.

Having a family member lost to addiction is a never ending thing... thanks to all who offered support online or mentally. :'(

My Issue seems to have disappeared after I unticked the box which says:
Code: [Select]
Require IPV4 addressing for this connection to complete

I'll leave it for a few days to see then marks as solved
